Trail Details - Overview

Imogene Pass is the ultimate alpine off-roading adventure, taking you deep into Colorado’s rugged backcountry. This legendary route, connecting Telluride and Ouray, winds through towering peaks, rocky switchbacks, and remnants of a bygone mining era. Massive, weathered structures and rusted machinery stand as echoes of the region’s gold and silver boom, offering a glimpse into the grit and resilience of early prospectors. With jaw-dropping views at every turn and an elevation that challenges both machine and driver, it’s no surprise this trail holds a coveted Jeep Badge of Honor. If you’re looking for the perfect mix of history, adrenaline, and breathtaking scenery, Imogene Pass delivers.

Camping

Finding a campsite in the Telluride, Ouray area can be quite challenging due to the area’s popularity, with established campgrounds often booking up months in advance. While there are dispersed camping spots along Imogene Pass, many of these are best suited for rooftop tents and tend to fill up quickly, especially on weekends. However, having a rooftop tent can give you more flexibility, allowing you to fit into smaller, shared spots that may already have other campers but still have room for one more vehicle.

An honest experience about exploring the outdoors and camping out of my daily driven AWD! My motto is "keep it real, don't highlight reel". I'm a true believer in learning from mistakes, but I take the steps to avoid them if possible. While adventuring in AWD can be more challenging, it can also be more practical in between home and the area of interest that will be explored.

I release weekly content, so following along on my adventures!
